ATLANTA -- The Artemis Guild of young professionals at Fernbank Museum invites you to eat like a lion, laugh like a hyena, socialize like a butterfly and dance you tail off at Lost Oasis 2013: Wild Safari.

Lost Oasis, Fernbank’s annual fundraising party, will take place at Fernbank Museum on Saturday, June 8, 2013, at 8 p.m. In celebration of the museum’s Extreme Mammals exhibition, the party will feature a “Wild Safari” theme complete with live music by the Atlanta Beat, exotic cocktails, incredible food and more than 400 young patrons in their wildest party animal attire that is sure to include tusks, tails, spots and stripes.

ATLANTA -- You can help a child recover from abuse and neglect, just by playing a round of golf.

Camp Horizon, a non-profit organization, is holding a golf tournament to benefit children who are in foster care, recovering from abuse.

The Hope on the Horizon golf tournament takes place at the Pinetree Country Club in Kennesaw Monday, Apr. 22 at 10 a.m. There is an entry fee of $125 per player, or $500 per foursome. Participants need to register by Apr. 8.

Organizers say the round of golf will make a big difference. Camp Horizon leaders say 40,000 children in Georgia are victims of abuse; every 13 minutes, a child is victimized. And children who are harmed are six times more likely to continue the cycle of abuse.

ATLANTA -- Pike Nurseries is holding a free class to help homeowners learn ways to draw birds to their backyards.

According to Pike Nurseries, roughly 350 species of birds live in Georgia. The birding class will teach participants the types of seed that are best for attracting birds, the three essentials needed to draw birds and how to provide for birds during the cold winter months.
