Druid Hills mansion fire burns all night

ATLANTA -- Atlanta fire crews spent all night on the scene of a two-alarm blaze in a "mansion" type of home.

The fire started Tuesday evening, in the 800 block of Lullwater Road, just off of Ponce de Leon Avenue and was still burning at 7 a.m. Wednesday.

Fire crews said a search of the home determined no one was inside. The home apparently was undergoing extensive renovations.

Atlanta Fire Rescue Assistant Fire Chief Chris Wessels said all fire crews were pulled from the building after a partial roof collapse in the attic area. They moved into a defensive position outside the structure in order to bring the blaze under control.

Two firefighters were injured as they battled the blaze, according to Janet Ward of the Atlanta Fire Department. The extent of their injuries was not known, but they left the building on their own accord. They were taken to a local hospital for treatment.

This home is in the same neighborhood where the movie "Driving Miss Daisy" was filmed.
