ADOPT A PET: Meet Punky

DECATUR, Ga. - If you dream of coming home to a wet nose, wagging tail and tons of kisses (in addition to, perhaps, a half chewed shoe or overturned trashcan) adopt a puppy from your local pet shelter. According to the ASPCA, approximately 5 million to 7 million domesticated animals enter animal shelters nationwide, every year, and approximately 3 million to 4 million are euthanized. However, you can change those numbers but adopting a "companion" for yourself or your family. Pets are an investment but, in our opinion, an investment well worth the money.

Punky is a two-year-old Retriever mix who came from a hoarding situation in Alabama. While in Alabama, he lived with about sixty other dogs. According to the people at PAWS he’s kind and gentle and he has shown a great deal of improvement since he came to the shelter. He is housebroken and can walk on a leash; however, some light training would be a benefit to him. He can be shy and timid but the ideal owner for Punky would need to have patience, in order for him to succeed as a “normal” dog. He can be adopted for $175.00 and is a part of the Large Dog Adoption program at PAWS.
